Ejisu-Kumasi, Ghana — June 13, 2025
In a landmark initiative to strengthen grassroots leadership and enterprise development in Ghana’s natural resource sector, Agriterra has successfully organized a consolidated five-day workshop for the Ghana Federation of Forest and Farm Producers (GhaFFaP) and ten of its member Forest and Farm Producer Organizations (FFPOs). The workshop was facilitated by Jonas Samuel Laryea and Lucia Horton both being corporative advisers, took place at the Forestry Commission Training Centre in Ejisu-Kumasi from Sunday, 8th June to Saturday, 14th June 2025.
The integrated event combined two critical capacity-building segments: the Strategic Plan Development Workshop and the Business Plan Development Workshop, bringing together grassroots producers and national leadership under one roof to chart a shared path for growth and sustainability.

Strategic Plan Development: Shaping Organizational Futures
The first segment of the workshop focused on equipping GhaFFaP and ten participating FFPOs with knowledge on developing strategic frameworks to guide their operations and long-term goals. A total of 33 participants comprising three representatives from each FFPO and three from GhaFFaP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) and Management actively contributed to the process. At the end of the training each FFPO developed three strategies that will guide their development over the next 1-3 years
The workshop formally commenced on Monday 9th June, continuing through three days of intense planning, knowledge sharing, and peer learning. Participants collaborated to define their organizational visions, set clear objectives, and outline measurable strategies for implementation.

Business Plan Development: Building Sustainable Enterprises
The second phase of the workshop run from Thursday 12th to Saturday 14th June focused on the development of a comprehensive Business Plan for GhaFFaP’s Business Incubation Unit developing fourteen activities to be done with the business incubation unit. This component emphasized financial sustainability, entrepreneurship, and value-chain development key pillars of Agriterra’s support model.
15 participants took part in this session including at least eight members of GhaFFaP’s NEC and Management and seven representatives from FFPOs whose executives are not part of the NEC. This structure ensured wide representation and deepened collaboration between the Federation’s leadership and grassroots actors.
