GhaFFaP Projects – Training on resilience, climate risk , and adaptation held in Bolgatanga.

Bolgatanga, Ghana – September 6, 2024

The Ghana Federation of Forest and Farm Producers (GhaFFaP) successfully organized a Training of Trainers workshop on “Building Resilience BR-I, Climate Risk Assessment, and Adaptation” from September 2nd to 6th, 2024, at the Millar Institute in Bolgatanga. This significant event brought together Forest and Farm Producers (FFPos) from across Ghana’s three main ecological zones: Savannah, Transition, and Forest.

Led by Jenny Ohman from Food and Forest Development (FFD) and co-facilitated by Martin Agboton of AgriCord, the workshop was organized in partnership with the Forest and Farm Facility (FFF-Ghana). Its goal was to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to enhance climate resilience, assess risks, and implement effective adaptation strategies in their respective regions.

A key component of the program was the “Training of Trainers,” which prepared participants to share what they learned with others. The event also included a field visit to provide practical, hands-on experience and a farmer workshop where lead farmers were trained to educate their peers on climate resilience.

Representatives from organizations such as ISRUDEV, ASETENAPA, TELE-BERE, KOKOOPA, WEC, PADO, SWFA, CADER, MAALTAABA, MILLAR INSTITUTE, KANBAOCU, OFFCOP, TRUDRIDEP, and the GhaFFaP Secretariat participated in the event. These groups are vital in advancing Ghana’s efforts to combat climate change and promote sustainable development within forest and farm communities.

By hosting this training, GhaFFaP aims to foster collaboration and empower local producers to better adapt to the challenges posed by climate change, ensuring the sustainability of their livelihoods and the ecosystems they depend on. The initiative is supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN) through its Forest and Farm Facility Program.
